About me
Hello, and welcome to my tutoring website.
I am a Chemistry tutor with a Master’s degree in Chemistry, a PGCE, and over 15 years of classroom and tutoring experience supporting students through GCSE and A-Level Chemistry.
Over that time, I’ve taught in a range of settings and worked with students across the full ability spectrum, from those building confidence in core concepts to those aiming for top grades in competitive exam environments. My focus is always the same: helping students move from knowing Chemistry to applying it effectively under exam conditions.
A-level Chemistry is demanding not just because of the content, but because of how students are expected to think. Success depends on clarity, structure, and the ability to translate scientific understanding into precise, mark-scoring answers. Much of my work centres on developing exactly that skill set, particularly in areas where students often lose marks despite understanding the underlying ideas. My approach combines subject expertise with a strong emphasis on exam technique. This includes breaking down complex questions, identifying recurring misconceptions, and building a clear, logical method for tackling structured and multi-step problems.
I currently offer small-group workshops and targeted 1:1 support designed to create a structured progression through A-Level Chemistry from early transition support to final exam preparation. Each programme is designed to meet students where they are and give them a clear pathway to improvement.
If a student is capable but not yet achieving the grades their understanding suggests, my role is to help bridge that gap with focused, structured support.
